I am officially engaged to Clinton Roger Prestwich :)
We've talked about this for awhile, Clint asked my dad's permission over Christmas, I knew it was coming but I was still COMPLETELY suprised. (Well done babe)
Valentines Day came around and Clint had to work all day-way lame I know- but he still made it special for me. He bought me purple tulips (my favorite) and wrote me the sweetest note I've ever read. We decided to really celebrate the next day when we had more time.
Tuesday. I went to work. (ps. I never know whether to say I went to school or went to work because both work... just a tid bit of information for you) My kids were awesome that day. I think it may be because they were coming down from a major sugar high from Valentine's Day, but that's just my guess. :)
I was in charge of teaching half of the lesson in the theater that day to the whole 2nd grade. My good friend Shaunna was going to teach the other half and asked if she could go first. It didn't matter to me so I said sure. Here is how theater went.... with my thoughts
Shaunna : Boys and Girls, I am so excited for this lesson today. I even lost sleep about it last night! ok, I understand we try to get the kids excited about every lesson, but you lost sleep? maybe exercise and the food pyramid isn't THAT exciting.... I just have to get a few things.
She walks out of the theater and runs into the office... she comes back with a box of tissues and her camera 1. these have nothing to do with exercise. 2. maybe with the principal watching we should have all our things already ready... this isn't like Shaunna...
She runs out of the theater again and into Julie's (my facilatator who is in charge of all the interns) office. When she comes back out... Clint is following in his suit and tie. o my gosh. o my gosh. what is he doing here? o my gosh (man, he always looks so good in his suit...)
Shaunna: We have a special visitor for Miss Pitt. Does anyone know who this is?
*Shouts come from the theater-Her husband! -no....well, not yet....
-Her Boyfriend! -yes!
Miss Pitt, will you please come to the front of the theater?
So I walk up to the front and everyone says my eyes were all big and I looked like I was shocked... that's probably because I was... haha
Clint said "Alissa, 5 months ago, I asked you a question. (it was our 5 month day of dating) I asked you if you were willing to give us a try. You said yes and I think it's gone pretty well, so today I have another question for you." He got down on one knee and said "Will you marry me?"
I was smiling like a fool and shaking like no other and I couldn't get the word "Yes" out of my mouth so I just nodded my head a lot and put out my left hand -which Clint later said he was grateful for because he doubted his ability to grab the correct hand in that moment... haha- and he put on my ring.
I was excused for the rest of the school day (there was only about 20 minutes left) and Clint and I left.
I don't even know if it has fully hit me yet. I am marrying the most amazing man I've ever met. He treats me like a queen and is so thoughtful and kind to me and everyone else around him. Clint is genuinely interested in everyone and is so aware of how people are feeling. I keep looking at this beautiful ring on my finger and I have to remind myself that it means I get to keep him forever. I love that! I can't believe this is real life. It is so easy. Why didn't anyone tell me it was going to be this easy? Clint is just easy to be with always. It just fits. It is perfectly perfect as my second graders would say :)
I'm in love and engaged to the boy of my dreams
